Hollywood Stars Shoot Film in Colombia Julia Stiles, Scott Speedman and Stephen Rea shoot Out of the Dark, a thriller produced by Colombia's Dynamo and Spain's Apaches Entertainment Shooting began on Out of the Dark at the end of April, on locations in and around Bogotá and the town of Honda (4 hours from Bogota). The production, presented by Participant Media in association with Spain's Image Nation and directed by Spaniard Lluís Quílez, narrates the arrival of an American couple who has moved to Colombia with their young daughter to take over the wife's father's paper factory. No sooner do they arrive than they discover the house where they are staying is haunted. "Given Participant's mission to illuminate important issues, this is not your average ghost story. You can be sure that there's a bigger reason why this takes place at this particular house in the Colombian jungle and to this particular family." said Jonathan King of Participant Media, one of the film's executive producers, in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter. With the help of attending witnesses, grainy photos, video sequences, high-tech scanners and forensic evidence, the two researchers look for an explanation for these truly miraculous 21st-century cases. Production services were provided by Screen Colombia for the three stories produced in Colombia: Lluvia de sangre, requiring extensive pre-production and logistics in order to penetrate the jungles of Chocó and document this event; Hostias milagrosas, about communion wafers that survived a church fire; and Los milagros de Juan Pablo II, a story about miracles performed using a sample of the deceased Pope's blood. This time it was Por ella soy Eva, starring Jaime Camil and Lucero and produced by Televisa, which finished taping 166 episodes in Mexico in 2012. The soap was adapted from the original version written by Elkin Ospina, Fernán Rivera and Juan Carlos Troncoso titled En los tacones de Eva, which starred Jorge Enrique Abello and Mónica Lopera. This production broke a number of Colombian rating records in 2007. "Those of us who wrote the soap are pleased to see the Mexican version has won such an important prize in Mexico. This story is special in that despite it being about a man who dresses up as a woman for love, it focuses on a very profound issue having to do with gender equality, machismo and all the vicissitudes encountered by a man when he puts himself in a woman's shoes. This, to me, accounts for the soap's success in both Colombia and Mexico," stated Troncoso. See more >>
| "Colombia: Magical Realism" New International Tourism Campaign Colombia's Ministry of Industry, Trade and Tourism and Proexport presented the new international tourism campaign aimed at foreign audiences, which highlights the unique experiences of tourists visiting Colombian destinations, such as walking on a beach amidst a parade of sea turtles, discovering a lost city, sailing with whales or touring historic sites immortalized in famous literary works. "Colombia: Magical Realism" hopes to attract the interest of foreign tourists seeking "different", "magical", "unique" and "amazing" experiences, and was conceived around a search for an answer. And that answer is Colombia. This expression sums up the essence of experiences narrated by foreigners after visiting the country and consolidates ideas used in previous campaigns that achieved a change in perceptions and highlighted the charms of these destinations and the advances made in safety and stability, such as the campaign featuring the slogan, "The only risk is wanting to stay." But nowhere have my crew and I been treated better or with more kindness and generosity. I'd bring my family on vacation there in a heartbeat. And hope to soon.
